Messages of Inspiration

Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always
watching you.
-- Robert Fulghum --

Years ago, an executive watched an elderly priest pick up a piece of trash
and deposit it in a waste can. Every evening, as he boarded the train, the
executive observed the same ritual-taking place.

After observing this daily ritual for two years, he approached the priest
and said: "I have watched you for two years and everyday you always pick up
a single piece of trash. Why?"

"Well," said the priest, "I remember this station when it was a lot cleaner
than it is now. I know one piece of litter doesn't make much difference,
but it could be spotless. The world could be spotless. It all depends on
people. As long as one person still cares, I think there's hope."

Thanking the priest for the explanation, he boarded the train. Looking back
he saw the priest still watching him. The executive smiled, bent down and
picked up a piece of cardboard and threw it away.

After 2 years the priest had made another convert in cleaning up the
station.

One person can be the change they want to see in the world.

John Muir was one person and he saved the Yosemite Valley, founded the
Sierra Club, and inspired generations of conservationists who continue to do
incredible work.
Wangari Maathai started planting trees and empowering women in Kenya. In
2004 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 for her contribution to
peace and sustainable development.

Reflecting on Jesus' life, death and resurrection helps us realize the
incredible change that comes from one person.
One person can be the change they want to see in the world.

"One person can make a difference and every person should try."
