June 6, 2010 - Second Sunday after Pentecost

1 Kings 17:8-16 The prophet Elijah visits a poor widow and though poor, she shares what she has. Psalm 146 God's love for all generations. Galatians 1:11-24 Paul remembers his own conversion to Christ, saying it was a gift of God in Christ. Luke 7:11-17 Jesus goes to Nain and visits a grieving widow. He raises her son from the dead.

June 13, 2010 - Third Sunday after Pentecost

1 Kings 21:1-10, (11-14), 15-21a The story of Naboth's vineyard is about pride, greed, injustice, and deceitful plots. Psalm 5:1-8 As worshippers made their way to the temple, this lament may have been recited by temple singers sharing that God hears their cries for help. Galatians 2:15-21 Christ frees us from the law so that we might serve Christ. Luke 7:36-8:3 In the home of Simon the Pharisee, a repentant woman of the city meets Jesus. . 1 Kings 19:1-15 When Elijah is silent, God's voice is heard. Psalm 42 "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted with me?" The psalmist struggles with hope and trust.

Galatians 3:23-29 We are no longer Jew or Greek, male or female, but all one in Christ. Luke 8:26-39 In the Gerasene region, Jesus heals a troubled man.

June 27, 2010 - Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14 Prophet Elijah is taken up into heaven and he gives his mantle to his successor Elisha. Psalm 77:1-2, 11-20 I cry to God in my distress. Galatians 5:1, 13-25 Freedom in Christ has set us free," proclaims Paul. We live by the Spirit; let us be guided by the Spirit. Luke 9:51-62 On his way to Jerusalem, Jesus reminds his followers of the demands of discipleship.
