February 7, 2010 Fifth Sunday after Epiphany

Isaiah 6:1-8 (9-13) Isaiah is called to speak God’s message.
Psalm 138 A song of thanks for God who is glorious and worthy, and who cares for the lowly.
1 Corinthians 15:1-11 Paul’s acknowledgement that is unworthy to be an apostle.

Luke 5:1-11 Jesus preaches from the shore of Galilee and then takes Peter out in Peter’s boat where they catch many fish. Jesus then calls him to be a disciple.

February 14, 2010 Transfiguration Sunday

Exodus 34:29-35 Moses descends from Mt. Sina, with the two tablets of God's law and with a shining face.

Psalm 99 A psalm of praise for God’s holiness, glory and guidance for God’s people.|
2 Corinthians 3:12 Paul speaks of the joy with which we behold God "with unveiled faces" through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 9:28-36 (37-43) Jesus leads three of his disciples up a mountain, and there he is transfigured before his wondering disciples

Ash Wednesday Feb. 17, 2010

Joel 2:1-2, 12-17 A call for repentance and God’s mercy on the Day of the Lord.
Psalm 51:1-17 After being exposed by Nathan the prophet, David asks God to cleanse him after his adulterous affair with Bathsheba.

2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:10 Paul explains the suffering he and other apostles have endured in order to proclaim God’s appeal for repentance, and God’s offer of salvation.

Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21 The most authentic way to give, fast and pray – Jesus explains the true practice of the Lenten disciplines.

Psalm 27 The Lord is my light and my salvation

Philippians 3:17-4:1 Paul proclaims his great love for the Christians at Philippi, after instructing them to imitate him as an example in Christ.

Luke 13:31-35 Jesus "sets his face toward Jerusalem" as he laments the fate of the city.
