Music Ministries

Recognizing that music plays a vital role in the worship experience for all who attend our church, the music ministry of Ashland United Methodist Church seeks to bring new life and meaning to the message of Jesus Christ through music.
Choir membership is open throughout the year. Questions about any of the choirs, programs for the year, or instrumental ensembles should be sent to Don Kirkindoll, Director of Music Ministries at Ashland UMC, 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210

Adult Worship Choir
·Director--Don Kirkindoll

We provide music for our PATH service (8:45-10) and our 11:00 worship service every week. Both services are unique and serve the diverse worship needs of our congregation. The PATH is an early morning relaxed yet upbeat service held in Ashland Hall. With a group of very talented musicians and instrumentalists, it is a wonderful way to start the week, The Design Team adds to the worship experience with fabrics, candles and beautiful altars. Our 11:00 service is a more formal and traditional style of worship with hymns and anthems. Come try them both-you won't be disappointed. During Advent and Lent, special music is featured, accompanied by special instruments and/or orchestra. If you are looking for a fun and rewarding way to praise God thru worship, come join us. We have lots of fun and laughter with some music thrown in for balance. Rehearsal: Wednesdays (PATH 6:30-7:15) (7:30-9:00) in the choir room. We do take a break in the summer which usually coincides with the public school calendar. NO auditions are necessary and we have a loving open membership of dedicated individuals from all walks of life who share a love for singing.

Wednesday's Angels
Directors--Amy Raynor and Susan VonNesson

This wonderful collection of children is divided into 2 age groups…K-4 thru 1st grade and 2nd grade thru 6th grade. A lively, fun and enthusiastic group who sings for both services. They learn to read music and understand musical terms during weekly rehearsals. Singing in 2 part harmony is a new skill for some of them and the melodic voices are a treat. Scripture through music is emphasized. There is always LOTS of action-dancing, clapping, laughing and ORIF instruments going on any given Wednesday night. The children learn bible verses and do crafts that emphasize the music they are singing. There are 2 musicals planned one at Christmas and one in the spring.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays 6:30-7:40 Each age level (K-4-1st grade & 2nd -6th grade) rehearses separately for 30 minute. NO auditions are needed to join this "wild and crazy" group. They observe the public school calendar and do not meet when school is out. (i.e.: Spring break, Christmas break etc.) So come try us out---we are LOTS of fun!!

Open to adults. Ability to read music a BIG help, but not required. If you can count 1,2,3,4 and follow the colored "dots"----you're OK!! The ringers meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:10 in room 115. Their talents are a wonderful addition to our worship services and special musical presentations. This fun group is always looking for members and welcomes newcomers with a smile and a pair of white gloves. Not sure if this is for you??? Come and give it a try!!
