Recognizing that music plays a vital role in the worship experience for all who attend our church, the music ministry of Ashland United Methodist Church seeks to bring new life and meaning to the message of Jesus Christ through music.
Choir membership is open throughout the year. Questions about any of the choirs, programs for the year, or instrumental ensembles should be sent to Don Kirkindoll, Director of Music Ministries at Ashland UMC, 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210.

Adult Choir
· Service choir for Sunday 11 a.m. worship
· Rehearsal: Wednesdays 7:30 - 9 p.m. in the Choir Room (except during the summer months when the choir takes a break from weekly rehearsals)
·Director: Don Kirkindoll, Director of Music Ministries
An open membership (no auditions) of dedicated individuals from all walks of life who share a love for singing.

Ashland Lights Youth Choir
Rehearsal: Sundays 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the Choir Room (September through May)
Choir Director: Don Kirkindoll
Open to youth in grades 7-12
The Ashland Lights sing in worship service throughout the school year and perform on hand bells. Youth Choir Retreats are held at the beginning of the school year at different locations. The Lights also participate in the Annual United Methodist Youth Choir Festival held each year in April at Springmaid Resort in Myrtle Beach.

Rainbow Kids Choir
Rehearsal: Wednesdays 6:15 - 7:10 p.m. in the Choir Room (September – May)
Open to youth in grades 3 – 6
The Rainbow Kids learn to read music and understand musical terms at weekly rehearsals. Participants also learn to sing two-part harmony. Learning scripture through music is emphasized. The Rainbow Kids sing in worship throughout the school year and in the past have performed several musicals for the congregation, including “A Whale of a Tail”, the story of Jonah, in 2004.

Sonshine Choir
Rehearsal: Wednesdays 6:15 – 7:10 p.m. in the Stepping Stones Sunday School room (September – May)
Choir Director: Joye Rush
Open to children in grades 1 – 2
The Sonshine Choir sings in the worship service throughout the school year. Music fundamentals are emphasized through games, singing and related activities.

Cherub Choir
Rehearsal: Wednesdays 6:15 – 7:10 p.m. (September – May)
Choir Director: Kriss Kirkindoll
Open to children ages 4 and 5
Parents, would you like for your child to learn sign language? To sing and use props? To hear and recognize rhythms? To learn new and fun songs? To make some new church friends, and maybe do a craft or two along the way?? If so, the Cherub Choir is the place to be!! This choir is designed for children who have already had their 4th or 5th birthdays. There is LOTS of action-- dancing, laughing, clapping to rhythms, etc. This past year, we had FUN FUN FUN and even learned songs well enough to sing during morning worship.

So bring your child to CHERUB CHOIR on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:00. (Some of the children stay after 7:00 and go to Wacky Wednesday.) If you have any questions, please see Don Kirkindoll, Jean Jackson or Kriss Kirkindoll .
