Ophthalmology Program in Haiti
Missioners and funding support the Gebeau Eye Clinic in Jeremie, Haiti. A Columbia ophthalmologist and his assistants volunteer one week a year to travel to perform cataract surgery in Haiti.
Ashland is a host church for Family Promise. Homeless families are housed at the host churches on a rotating schedule until they are able to find suitable housing and regain their independence.
Ashland has for over a decade been the host site for the Camp. As many as seventy teens and adults spend a week at Ashland in July to repair houses for families in need. Ashland youth and adults also go to other Salkehatchie Camps throughout the state.
We partner with our neighbor, Seven Oaks Elementary School, to meet needs of the students and their families.
We provide “back-to-school” supplies for their classrooms in August
We participate in the “Snack Pack Program” of non-perishable food items for students to take home for the weekend every weekend throughout the school year.
We provide funding for each student to buy a book at the annual Book Fair.
Ashland 5th & 6th graders make fleece blankets for the children at Children’s Garden, a Volunteers of America service program that provides quality child development services for the pre-school children of homeless and needy families.
Ashland contributes financially to Epworth Children’s Home, and our families purchase Christmas gifts for Epworth children every year. Epworth Children’s Home provides group residential care for children and youth from all of South Carolina.
Ashland’s United Methodist Women support Killingsworth through financial and material gifts during the year.
Recycle Bicycle
Ashland supports members who repair bicycles for the homeless.
Homeworks
Our youth and the adults working with them repair homes of homeowners in need. Homeworks is a Christ-centered non-profit organization providing home repair services to low-income homeowners while mentoring youth in the process.
